The Alliance is supporting as a partner the fourth annual Annapolis Film Festival’s Environmental Showcase that will be held on Friday, April 1 from 2:00 pm- 5:00 pm at St. Anne’s Parish House in downtown Annapolis, Maryland.
The Showcase will begin with the full length film Climate Change: A Few Degrees Less by Jeffrey Sach. This documentary presents the scientific chronicle of the work that led to the world climate summit in Paris in December 2015 and the actions needed to achieve global 2050 goals.
Following the feature film, there will be a lively panel discussion moderated by the Alliance’s Executive Director, Al Todd. Panelists include Jeffrey Eckel, Chairman, CEO and President, Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure Capital, Inc.; Tiffany Hartung, Manager, Maryland Climate Coalition, National Wildlife Federation; Patrick Thompson, President and CEO, EnergyWorks Group.Jeffrey Eckel is President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure. He serves on a variety on industry-related boards including the Alliance to Save Energy and the Maryland Clean Energy Center and serves as a member of the Johns Hopkins Environmental, Energy, Sustainability and Health Institute’s advisory council. Mr. Eckel has over 30 years of experience in structuring, executing and operating energy and infrastructure investments[one_fifth animation_offset=”top-into-view” class=”acb-board-director-item” ][imageframe class=”acb-board-director-image” ] [one_fifth animation_offset=”top-into-view” class=”acb-board-director-item” ][imageframe class=”acb-board-director-image” ] Tiffany Hartung as the Sr. Coalition Coordinator for the Maryland Climate Coalition, works with coalition partners to build on Maryland’s clean energy and climate policies and make Maryland a leader in clean energy. Previously, she worked for the Sierra Club Beyond Coal Campaign in Michigan helping ensure Michigan’s energy needs were met in the smartest, cleanest ways.Patrick Thompson was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of the EnergyWorks Group in 1999. He has over 30 years experience in the energy industry and has held senior executive, business, engineering, and development positions with the Bechtel Group, the EnergyWorks Group and Iberdrola[one_fifth animation_offset=”top-into-view” class=”acb-board-director-item” ][imageframe class=”acb-board-director-image” ] Following the panel discussion and a short intermission, the Environmental Showcase continues with the showing of 2 short films: Greg Stone’s artistic short film, Ocean Stories. Stone, an oceanographer and marine biologist, is also the narrator of this beautiful film which reflects his personal and professional passion and commitment to the world’s fantastic, yet so fragile, oceans. A third film presentation, Nantucket documentary filmmaker John Stanton’s The Last Bay Scallop? looks at the potential loss of the fishery, due to water-quality issues, the work being done to change that fate, and the island culture and economics that would be lost if the last commercial scallop fishery on the East Coast went down. As a finale to the afternoon’s events, Mr. Stanton will be at the Showcase and there will be a Q&A with him following the viewing of his film.
