Volunteers help create a Meditation Labyrinth at Faith Community Baptist Church in Richmond, VA
In May 2018, the Alliance began working with Faith Community Baptist Church in Richmond, VA on a project to create a community garden on its property to battle food insecurity and help preserve the James River watershed. In addition to the community garden, we’ve helped implement a new rainwater harvesting system and a rain garden next to the church building to capture stormwater runoff.
Most recently, we helped coordinate a volunteer work day at the church to build a meditation labyrinth. In the coming weeks, native plants will be planted around the border to filter rainwater and provide pollinators like bees, birds, and butterflies, sources of food, shelter and safe areas for breeding.
Below is a quick video of all the progress so far!
