The Local Government Advisory Committee to the Chesapeake Executive Council is pleased to welcome two new Maryland members, Ms. Patrice Bubar and Mayor Jacob Day, appointed by Governor Larry Hogan. Both members were officially introduced to LGAC at their meeting in June. Patrice and Jacob join Sheila Finlayson, Alderwoman, City of Annapolis, Ronald Fithian, Commissioner, Kent County, Kelly Porter, Councilman, Seat Pleasant, and Bruce Williams, Former Mayor, Takoma Park representing Maryland. Patrice Bubar
Since 2015, Patty Bubar has been the Deputy Director for the Department of Environmental Protection in Montgomery County, Maryland. From November 2017 through January 2019, she also served as the Acting Director. She oversees the policy and direction for environmental programs in the County as well as the corporate administrative functions in support of Montgomery County’s environmental protection and compliance programs. Prior to coming to Montgomery County, Patty spent 38 years in the federal government in a variety of executive positions at the U.S Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Patty holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
Jacob Day
Jake Day is the elected Mayor of Salisbury, MD. Born and raised in Salisbury, he was elected to the City Council at the age of 30 and unanimously elected President. He has also worked for the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, most recently as the Director of the Center for Towns which is a program utilizing design, planning and implementation assistance to establish vibrant, sustainable small cities and towns on the Eastern Shore. He has spent his career revitalizing downtowns and making them more vibrant, livable places. Jake earned a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Maryland and master’s degrees in Urban Design and Environmental Policy from Carnegie Mellon University and Oxford University. He is a Captain in the US Army National Guard, currently serving as the Senior TAC Officer at the Officer Candidate School, a member of the Next American Vanguard, Leadership Maryland, and the Smart Growth America Local Leaders Council Advisory Board and previously served as a director on the American Institute of Architects national Board of Directors as a Richard Upjohn Fellow. Finally, Jake and his wife Liz are the proud parents of Lily and Olivia.
