The Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC) held its final quarterly meeting of 2019 in December in Adamstown, Maryland. Former Mayor of Takoma Park, Bruce R. Williams, was honored by members of LGAC for his service to its Maryland delegation as he transitions into his new position as an emeritus member. Bruce was first appointed to LGAC in 2009 and served as a delegation member for 10 years.
During his years, he was elected as Chair of the committee in 2017 and served for 2 terms. Bruce has always been active on Chesapeake Bay issues including serving 13 years on the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ (COG) Chesapeake Bay and Water Resources Policy Committee, which he also chaired. In the fall of 2019, Bruce relinquished his position with LGAC and became the committee’s emeritus member – participating with LGAC in the absence of another MD delegation member. Sub-Chair, Ed Bustin, Commissioner of Bradford County, PA, took the time to recognize Bruce for his longtime contributions to LGAC as well as his continuous passions for the Bay!
